I wasn't clever enough to do an April Fool's wallpaper. April 11, 2008 Posted by Mookie
April's Donation Wallpapers are up, as you can see. Dominic's push into Barnet's soul, and his total lack of "badass fashion sense" has gotten some of you writing me e-mails expressing your approval and/or disapproval of the whole scenario... so I decided to run with it with this month's wallpapers. I also stuck Supergreg and what I figured Jacob's "super-fantasy" of himself would be, if he cared to daydream about such things. Or anything at all.

In any case, I hope you like this month's wallpapers!
Iconic pictures! April 8, 2008 Posted by Mookie
ICON was a certified blast. I always have a great time there and I was sad that I couldn't attend last year. Upon making my return to the first convention I ever attended, I almost felt like I was home again.

I hung out with some great people and some old friends. I made a couple of new ones, too. I was on a few panels that were relatively well-attended and generally well-received. Without a doubt my favorite one was called "The Long Haul: When Comics Go Epic." I'll go looking for the recording of that panel that was made, because it was more fun than it had any right to be. "We're gonna put Spider-Man in space with the devil, see?"

And, as promised, here are the generous folks who helped inflate my ego by coming to see me in costume.
It's a Dominic!
Klo Tark lives! Again!
Fish-curse Dominic and cowled Jacob!

I meant to have links to some of the folks I met this weekend, but truth be told a lot of their business cards were lost in the transit back to Mookie HQ and I'm still looking for them as I unpack. The Boogie Knights were smart enough to just stick their "card" right onto me in the form of a giant pin.

That's all from me for now!
Recovering from an Iconic weekend. April 7, 2008 Posted by Mookie
I'm heading back to Mookie HQ in Boston today from Long Island, where I had a blast at ICON. I'll have a full con report up tomorrow, complete with pictures and a few links.
Icon Filler Doodle #3 April 6, 2008 Posted by Mookie
Honestly, I just wanted to draw a picture of a woman in a swimsuit... a woman who can break things with her face. And her arms. And her legs. And she could probably kill you with her thumbs if she wanted to.

I need to put Rachel in more storyarcs. Not only is she fun to draw (since she's changed her look every time we see her) but it's fun to have her interract with the other characters around here (since she changes their appearance every time she sees them).

This is my last day at ICON. The comic resumes tomorrow.
Icon Filler Doodle #2 April 5, 2008 Posted by Mookie
A few of you folks have been asking me where Stunt's been and when he's coming back. He's still on his soul-searching journey, figuring out what's next in his life and all that... soul-searching stuff. Anyhoo, it was nice to draw him again after a few months. He looks like he's doing okay.

That and "Dust in the Wind" is just an awesome song, no matter how depressing it may be.

One more crummy filler doodle to come while I'm here at ICON!
ICON Filler Doodle #1 April 4, 2008 Posted by Mookie
I felt the need to post little commentaries with this weekend's filler doodles while I'm off causing trouble at ICON.

Maybe I've just been playing too much Rock Band lately, but I've always known Donovan was in a band as a young man. Probably quite a few. This was his first, and these guys were lots of fun to doodle, especially the flamboyant elf drummer.

I don't know what they called themselves, but if you want an idea as to how they may have sounded give a listen to "Whisky Train" by Procul Harum. That song is old-school and awesome enough to make me think of Donovan whenever I hear it.

There are still two more crummy filler doodles to come while I'm off at ICON this weekend.
Iconic filler doodle warning! April 3, 2008 Posted by Mookie
Tomorrow I'm off to ICON 27 and I hope to see you folks there.

There will be crummy filler doodles for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, I'm afraid. Sorry about that. There will be a normal comic up on Monday unless otherwise noted.

April's Donation Wallpapers will go up next week.

Like I said, this weekend I'm going to be returning to ICON! Stop by and say "hi" if you're in the area!
An iconic news post! March 31, 2008 Posted by Mookie
The only big news to report today is that I'll be a Guest at ICON 26 this weekend, so if you're in the area please stop by and say "hi!" I'll be selling the usual swag as well as a very limited number of Dominic Deegan scarves. I'm not sure if I'll be speaking on any panels, but I'll keep you folks informed if they tell me anything prior to the show.

There may or may not be even more crummy filler doodles while I'm gone. Again, I'll keep you folks up-to-speed.

Now if you'll all excuse me, I must expend a great deal of energy to not play Rock Band so I can get some work done for ICON this weekend. See you there!
Quickies March 27, 2008 Posted by Mookie
I'm way behind on sending out this month's Donation Wallpapers. If you haven't received yours yet, I humbly apologize for the delay. You ought to be getting your wallpapers at some point today.

And there is, indeed, no rest for the wicked. In approximately one week I'll be a Guest at ICON 26. I'll be amongst the fan tables up near the registration area, so be sure to stop by and say "hi" on your way down to that mammoth dealer's room. ICON has a special place in my heart because it was the first convention my father ever took me to. It's always a pleasure to return there and I look forward to seeing you folks there.

After that I get a break... and then I'll be attending, in order:
A-Kon
Portcon Maine
ConnectiCon
Otakon

Got me a full schedule coming up. Hope to see you folks around!
Ridiculous! March 24, 2008 Posted by Mookie
Anime Boston was, as I've said all weekend, absolutely crazy. I can't remember the last time I felt so drained after three days at a convention. It may have been the ridiculously long hours in the Artist's Alley. It may have been the ridiculous amount of people walking the halls of the Hynes Convention Center. It may have been the ridiculously long lines that people were waiting on, which were rumored to have a ten-hour wait for registration at some point. It may have been the ridiculous amounts of love I was shown by the lovely folks who stopped by to say "hi." Whatever it was, this year's Anime Boston was one for the record books.

I'll have pictures and links up tomorrow, since there are plenty of both and I'm still unwinding from the weekend.

Thanks to everyone who came by and said "hi" to yours truly. I cannot express my gratitude enough to you all for making such a draining weekend one of the most memorable.
Better than anything I could do this weekend. March 23, 2008 Posted by Mookie
Here's a nice piece of fan art that a lovely young lady did of me while attending the "webcomics jam" panel I was a part of. I honestly forget what I said to make her draw me looking so diabolical, but I think the picture is awesome and I figured I'd share it.

Anime Boston continues to be absolutely insane.
I'm honestly surprised I made it out of there yesterday with my sanity in one piece.

Only one more day to go.
*gasp... wheeze...* March 22, 2008 Posted by Mookie
Anime Boston is insane.
This crummy little filler doodle that has absolutely nothing to do with anything is literally all I had time for all day.

There's been talk of the eight to nine hour wait on the registration line alone, so you can imagine how many people have swarmed Boston's mammoth Hynes Convention Center.

And there's still today to deal with.

Yikes.
I like "yerf" and the madness of Anime Boston. March 21, 2008 Posted by Mookie
Today is the first day of ANIME BOSTON, and if the pre-registration line yesterday was any indication of the madness about to engulf this city... well, let's just say I hope I make it out in one piece.

There will be crummy filler doodles for both Saturday and Sunday while I'm at the convention, but Monday's strip will be a full-color full-page Sunday style update. I do hope you folks like it.

And for those of you coming to Anime Boston... see you there!
I'm very proud of my abs... or... AB. March 17, 2008 Posted by Mookie
ANIME BOSTON is right around the corner, my friends! As a matter of fact, it's this upcoming weekend! I missed this behemoth of a convention last year so I'm super excited to be returning to the Hynes Convention Center and all the madness it will contain.

I'll be in the Artist's Alley once again, so if you're in the area be sure to stop by and say "hi!" I'll have copies of SEER'S DIGEST and ECSTASY & EVIL as well as the Charity Shirt I was going to sell at Neo Nohcon. All money from the sales of the Charity Shirts will still be going to the Matthew Foster Foundation.

I'll also be debuting a new t-shirt design I came up with. It has nothing to do with the comic itself but it applies more to being a webcomicker... and I've always wanted to put that phrase onto a t-shirt. So I did. Later on it'll be put it up for sale at the Dominic Deegan ZeStuff store so you can get it if you can't make it to Anime Boston.

I'm not sure if the strip will update this weekend. Even though the convention is in the same city as me, Anime Boston is insane and exhausting. If I have to resort to crummy filler sketches again, you'll all be properly warned.

That's all from me for now!
Hope to see you at ANIME BOSTON!
