Dominic Deegan: Destroyer for Hire? March 24, 2011 Posted by Mookie
For nearly nine years we've seen Dominic take many different forms on the psychoplanes. Colossal Triclops Dominic. Champion of Balance Dominic. Shirtless Dominic. Mighty Dominic Man. Dreamscape Interrogator Dominic. And now this... Otherworldly Planar slightly-Destroyer Dominic. Maybe he looks freaky. Maybe he looks silly. I think he looks neat but, as always, I'm biased.

There's a new Donation Wallpaper up for your approval! Check it out, and I hope you like it.

I'm headed down to CONBUST tomorrow, so be sure to stop by and say "hi!" The comic should update regularly both Friday and Monday, but I apologize ahead of time if there's crummy filler.

That's all from me for now.

Nom nom. March 23, 2011 Posted by Mookie
Is it just me, or does The Beast resemble a one-eyed version of the legendary Black Beast of AAARRRRGH! in the comic today? Or maybe it didn't, but now that I've mentioned it that's all you can see?

In any case, poor Dominic is looking rather chewed up at the moment.

It's Wednesday, which means new comic books hit the shelves. So if you're interested in what I'm reading and what I think check out my Twitter feed for any entries marked with #ComicBookDay. I'll try to keep spoilers and my nerd rage to a minimum.

That's not a nice smile. March 22, 2011 Posted by Mookie
Of all the wicked, toothy grins that have appeared in the comic lately this one has to be my favorite, only barely beating out Karnak's father-eating grin. If I had fangs that prominent, or at all, I think I'd smile like that all the time. Minus the tentacles, ideally.

Don't forget that I'll be at CONBUST this weekend! They have me on lots of panels so I'll be talking more than usual, and anyone who's seen me at a convention knows that that's a lot of talking.

Busted. March 21, 2011 Posted by Mookie
Looks like Dominic is in for another round with The Beast, and this time there will be no giant planar insects to help and/or deafen him.

This weekend I'll be going to CONBUST for the first time. It's the start of my "2011 convention tour" so I'm really looking forward to kicking things off. I've heard lots of great things from past attendees and guests about this convention so be sure to stop by and say "hi" if you're in the area!

Be sure to check my Convention Schedule down below to see all the places I'll be this year! A few more will be added once details are finalized and such, so be sure to keep an eye out (no pun intended)!

HRGP! March 18, 2011 Posted by Mookie
I guess those big elvish ears got the message after all.

And I hope not too many of you "HRGP"ed during your St. Patrick's Day celebrations.

I was going to have a new Donation Wallpaper for you fine folks today, but once I had it all ready to upload I took one last look at it and decided, to be frank, that it sucked. So I'm going to have another go at it this weekend and hopefully have a worthy wallpaper for your perusal and approval up by Monday.

Other than that, I hope you folks have a lovely weekend!

Ewww! March 17, 2011 Posted by Mookie
I grossed myself out a little bit when I made today's comic. Imagine how Dominic feels... and what he's seeing. Bluh.

Today we celebrate Saint Patrick's Day, where tradition states we wear green and drink copious amounts of beer. I will be breaking from tradition slightly this year thanks to a suggestion I saw on Twitter from Seth Green. His idea was to take the money you would be spending on a six-pack and instead put it towards a donation to help the relief effort in Japan. So the Red Cross will be getting my beer money today.

I will stick my other Saint Patrick's Day tradition, however. I will, as I have done for many previous years, be locking myself in my apartment and hiding from the roaming hordes of drunk college students.

Work is underway on Two Thief or Not Two Thief: Dominic Deegan Volume 6. If all goes according to plan I should be able to take pre-orders in April, and officially go on sale sometime around May or June. Keep an eye out for more announcements.

In other comicky news, new comic books hit the shelves today, so be sure to check out my Twitter feed to see what I think of whatever I'm reading at the time, as indicated by the #ComicBookDay hash-tag. I'll try not to give out too many spoilers or succumb to total nerd rage.

Don't fear the seer. March 15, 2011 Posted by Mookie
Dominic's right. You don't have to be an oracle to change yourself or the world around you.

And yes, he's leaving out the part where he has played the role of an "editor" and changed the fate of the world directly through his use of second sight, but only for today.

The people of Japan still need help. You can donate to the Red Cross via the link or by texting REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation.

Fear of the Dom(inic). March 14, 2011 Posted by Mookie
Looks like Randy was right about Taz's fear of Dominic after all.

With the return of daylight savings time the comic will once again be updating at 3am Eastern Standard US time. Not a huge deal for those of you who check the comic first thing in the morning. For those of you who stay up all night, it's back to the traditional update time anyway, so I suppose you'll be used to this.

Last but not least, the earthquake in Japan is a terrible tragedy and we should all do our part to help those affected. You can make donations to the Red Cross either through their website or by texting REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation via your cell phone.

Full moon drummer. March 11, 2011 Posted by Mookie
I told you "drummer from above" would come up again soon.

I should have a new Donation Wallpaper up next week, which may or may not include a certain troublesome drummer and his airborne rage.

I'll finish up this Friday news post with a brief, nerdy story.

Something altogether wonderful happened to me this past Wednesday, which is the day that new comic books hit the shelves. I've been quite invested in the DC Comics series Justice League: Generation Lost and this latest issue was likely to reveal the fate of one of my favorite characters not only on the team but in the superhero genre, Blue Beetle.

As I neared the comic book shop, I actually found myself running towards it because I was so eager to see what happened next. Running. I wasn't running very fast, mind you, but the fact that I still had that level of investment, wonder and excitement towards "what happens next" after all these years was encouraging... even if I do find myself falling for nail-biting cliffhangers in my thirties.

Rock on and have a nice weekend!
Drummer From Above! March 10, 2011 Posted by Mookie
Taz was originally going to shout "drummer from above" as he leapt at the drunken heckler, but when I put it on the page it just didn't look right. The silent rage of his airborne assault is, in my opinion, much funnier.

That line may pop up later, though.

Edited for content. March 9, 2011 Posted by Mookie
Facebath already writes songs about horror and gore, history and mythology, and corruption in politics, which one would think encompasses the overall scope of subjects that metal bands like to cover. But one must not forget the often-overlooked subject of metal that, when done well, makes for some of the most memorable songs in the genre. Humor.

Recently, Psychostick has been providing me with my doses of "humorcore." Check them out for a laugh and some great metal.

New comic books hit the shelves today, and if you're interested in what I think of the week's books I pick up as I'm reading them, check out my Twitter feed. Anything marked with #ComicBookDay relates to a comic book I'm reading at that time.

Far beyond driven. March 8, 2011 Posted by Mookie
It's another musical comic today, albeit one in which Taz MaDara continues to be a dick, but as such it's come to my attention that I've been negligent on something musical that needs addressing.

Absinthe Junk is trying to get a spot on the Warped Tour! I've mentioned Absinthe Junk a lot down here in the news box over the past few years and the response I've gotten is that you fine folks really like them. Blair, the band's frontwoman, is also a good friend of mine. So if you want to help a quality band get their quality music on a big venue, click the above link, register a profile and give them the votes they most definitely deserve. I've already done so and I think you should, too.

It's certainly a memorable title. March 7, 2011 Posted by Mookie
You can thank my fiancee for the title to Randy's tribute to Luna.

All the variations I thought up had one or more F-bombs.

It's a slow news Monday, which is fine by me, but here's hoping that I'll some significant and exciting news by the end of the week.

And that Randy keeps his one remaining tusk by the end of the week.

Guh. March 4, 2011 Posted by Mookie
I've tried Randy's method of breaking writer's block, which is to just stare at the page harder until something comes through.

As you can see, it does not work.

No news to report today, so I'll just leave you folks alone and wish you a nice weekend, free of creative blockage of any kind.
