In my (not much of a) defense... November 4, 2008 Posted by Mookie
I think this came across clearly in today's comic but I feel the need to clarify something just in case.

Garrit's argument of "I only hit you once..." isn't much of a defense at all and neither he nor I are saying that only hitting your spouse once isn't abuse. He was just trying to make it clear that he only struck his ex-wife once and not repeatedly. He's not proud of it and neither should anyone who indulges in any form of abuse, physical or otherwise.

I have discovered that it's better to apologize on the side of caution when it comes to the internet.

I also forgot to mention that November's Donation Wallpapers ought to be up after I come back from NEKOCON this weekend. One may be necromantic. One may be splattery. In either case I do hope you like them.

That's all from me for now.
Hope to see you at Nekocon!
Rock on.
It's the final countdown! November 3, 2008 Posted by Mookie
The big news to report today is that I'll be heading down to NEKOCON this weekend. It's my last convention for 2008 and I'm hoping to end this con season on a high note. I'll be there with the usual swag and I think I'll be doing a couple of panels. Stop by and say "hi" to find out!

The strip should update while I'm gone, even if they are three one-panel comics... splattery or not.

ECSTASY & EVIL ought to be back in stock a short time after Nekocon. I'll keep you folks posted as to any developments concerning shipment dates and all that.

That's all from me for now.
Rock on.
Closing out Halloween weekend... in Hell! November 2, 2008 Posted by Mookie
He's baaaaaaack.
Although it's anybody's guess what he's trying to say in today's strip. I have no idea, either! He wouldn't tell me! The Infernomancer is a very mysterious guy, after all.

All kidding aside, I feel compelled to give the same warning I always do whenever The Infernomancer shows up around here.

Things are going to get splattery.

That's all from me for now.
Rock on.
Happy Halloween! October 31, 2008 Posted by Mookie
Normally I hate doing unannounced filler like this, but I'm feeling unusually festive this year and the spirit of this spooky holiday just got me in a stranglehold.

So I do hope you folks can find it in your collective hearts to forgive me while I get into costume and wish you all a very HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
Stubbly and spooky. October 27, 2008 Posted by Mookie
Dex Garrit has stubble just like mine. After being clean-shaven for just one day it returns with a vengeance the next morning.

BAKURETSUCON was an absolute blast. It is one of the smallest conventions I attend but I never fail to have a great time and return home with uplifted spirits. Thank you so much to everyone who came to say "hi" to me, the staff who made me feel like a million dollars, and everyone else who put up with my iPod for three whole days.

My next stop will be NEKOCON in two weeks. This is another convention that never fails to impress me and I strongly recommend attending this one if you're in the area. It's a great time and I'm always in a good mood, so be sure to stop by and help me cause some mischief with the usual peanut gallery.

Halloween is fast approaching. I can't wait.
That's all from me for now.
Rock on and be spoooooky.
Bakuretsucon! October 24, 2008 Posted by Mookie
I'm heading off to BAKURETSUCON for the weekend, where I'll be holding down the fort with the usual swag and making the usual harmless mischief I always do.

In my absence there won't be any guest comics or big-panel strips. Just crummy filler doodles on Saturday and Sunday. The strip will, unless otherwise noted, return on Monday.

I'll have more convention news concerning the remainder of 2008 and other goodies next week. Until then, have a nice weekend and I hope to see you at BAKURETSUCON!

That's all from me for now.
Rock on.
Splortch. October 20, 2008 Posted by Mookie
And so ends the comic's most relaxed "epic" storyline to date. It was a nice, tranquil few months of world-building, sappy romance and more sappy romance, which only justifies the proverbial crap that's going to clog the fan to close out 2008. As the end of today's strip probably hints... things may or may not get splattery around here.

This weekend I'll be returning to BAKURETSUCON. I always have a lot of fun at this intimate little convention and I urge those of you in the area to stop by and say "hi." Baku-con is almost like this past storyarc for me in that it's full of tranquility and sappy romance... that is, if you happen to catch me and my girlfriend being snuggly-wuggly. I'm going to do my best to cover my absence, but there should be two days of filler instead of three should it come to that. I'll keep you folks posted.

ECSTASY & EVIL should be back in stock around early November, along with a "get all three books deal" in time for the holiday season. I'm still trying to get this whole salesman thing down.

Oh, and for those of you interested in this sort of thing... I saw Amon Amarth this weekend and Ensiferum opened the show. I'm still sore and my voice is still recovering.

That's all from me for now.
Rock on and hail Odin.
Now I'm feeling zombified. October 16, 2008 Posted by Mookie
I did say there would be some old faces showing up on this vacation.

There may or may not be more spookiness on the way as Halloween looms ever closer.

Mwa ha ha.
A-N-I-M-E in the U-S-A! October 14, 2008 Posted by Mookie
I do believe Barnet's commentary in the last panel of today's comic sums up the entirety of this vacation, and I make absolutely no apologies for it. It's been a few months of sappy goodness, which makes the next few months of crap-hitting-the-fan all the more justified. Mwa ha ha.

There's still a little more epilogue to go on this vacation arc. I do hope you enjoy the finale.

But, as promised, here are some pictures from AnimeUSA. It was a fun convention despite some of the drama and miscommunications that took place before it, but once I arrived I had a great time. I met some wonderful readers, hung out with some old friends and even met some new ones.

It's dancing Dominic!
It's stuff like this that just might go to my head one day.
It's a rotting Jacob! My favorite kind of necromancer!

And here's a special thanks to the folks I hung out with all weekend... also known as "the peanut gallery."
Paradigm Shift!
Applegeeks!
Johnny Wander!
Comedity!
Paradox Lost!
Geist Panik!
Mystic Revolution!
Flipside!
Angry Viking Press!
Blue and Blond!

If I forgot anyone, I do sincerely apologize.

Next stop is Bakuretsucon in about two weeks! Be sure to stop by and say "hi" to me there!

That's all from me for now.
Rock on.
Oops. I did it again. October 13, 2008 Posted by Mookie
I tried very hard to get Monday's strip done while I was at AnimeUSA this weekend but it just didn't happen. On top of that I got home from Virginia well after midnight on Sunday and... blah. Let the cute picture of my cat tell the story.

I'll have a con report with pictures up tomorrow.
Thanks to everyone who came to visit me at the convention!
AnimeUSA, wallpapers and filler! Hooray! October 9, 2008 Posted by Mookie
This news post is going up a little later than usual, but it's been a hectic couple of days preparing for AnimeUSA. I'm hitting the road today and I'll be there the entire weekend, so be sure to stop by and help me cause trouble and all that stuff.

This weekend will have guest comics that were written by me but drawn by my good friend Tarah, who has kindly provided me with some high-quality artwork. The three comics this weekend are unofficially titled Meanwhile, in the Wild Edge...
I do hope you like them.

October's Donation Wallpapers are up. There are three of them this month because I always feel festive when Halloween is on the horizon.
I do hope you like them.

That's all from me for now!
See you at AnimeUSA!
A summer vacation that ends in OCTOBER?! Awesome. October 6, 2008 Posted by Mookie
At long last, the strip's most relaxed epic adventure is coming to a close. This vacation storyarc has been a blast for me personally and I thank each and every one of you for coming along on the ride.

The big news this week is that AnimeUSA is this weekend! I'll be in the Artist's Alley with some of the usual swag and causing trouble with the usual crew of misfits and miscreants so don't miss it!

I've commissioned a friend of mine to do some guest strips to cover the days I'm at the convention. They're written by me but drawn by her, so with any luck she'll get them done on time so we'll have some (hopefully) entertaining guest work for your viewing pleasure.

October's Donation Wallpapers will be up before I head to AnimeUSA.

That's all from me for now.
Rock on.
Your guide through the Wild Edge... or just Boston. October 3, 2008 Posted by Mookie
I've been a little "absent" from the internet this week because a good friend of mine recently moved into my neighborhood and I've been helping her get settled in, unpacked, et cetera.

In any case, AnimeUSA is right around the corner! Be sure to come by and help me get settled in, unpacked, et cetera when I arrive at this convention I'm attending for the first time! Also, there will likely be some filler art while I'm away next weekend. I'll let you fine folks know next week whether it will be guest art or filler doodles.

October's Donation Wallpapers will be available early next week as well. I'm not promising any Halloween-specific wallpapers, but all three subjects of all three wallpapers will certainly be dressed up.

That's all from me for now.
Rock on.
THUD. September 29, 2008 Posted by Mookie
Lots of updates around here today. Well, it's basically the stuff I said I was going to do last week, but I'm apparently such a notorious procrastinator that I'll even put off stuff I tell myself to do. Oh well. Better nate than lever, right?

First of all, the Fan Art pages have been updated with lots of great new artwork! Take a gander at what some lovely people have sent me. Keep an eye out, though, because I seem to have foolishly misplaced some of the artwork that was handed to me at the summer's many conventions. Once I clean up the mess my kitten keeps making around here I'll uncover them and post them.

Second of all, you'll notice that the menu bar is a lot smaller. That's because I streamlined the LINKS page and returned it to the site where it now houses the links to many fantastic webcomics, art sites, the links to the three forums and the wikipedia entries concerning the cast and comic.

Don't forget that AnimeUSA is fast approaching! There are only two more days to pre-register so get in there now if you can! I'll be there causing trouble with the usual peanut gallery, so be sure you're there to get in on the mischief.

And finally, as another last-minute addition to yet another great convention, I will returning to BAKURETSUCON! This is one of my favorite conventions to attend because it's intimate and the people who run it are very nice. If you're in the area be sure to stop by and say "hi."

That's all from me for now.
Rock on.
News Post 2: Electric Boogaloo! September 27, 2008 Posted by Mookie
I was born in 1979 but I was raised in the 80s, and the semashi dance-off is yet another instance of me inserting my childhood into this comic and I make no apologies for it because dance-offs are awesome. References to cheesy 80s movies and more recent "urban dancing" movies aside, I invite you to watch a pair of breakdancing groups go at it in a competition. Awesome, I tell you.

If I really wanted to be awful I would've put Ozone and Turbo somewhere in the semashi crowd... and if any of you know who the hell I'm talking about (without having to look them up) you grew up watching the same awful movies I did.

That's all the cheese from me for now.
Let's dance!
