Filleriffic!

A-KON managed to do something to me that only one other convention has ever done... it ate
everything I brought. Every single copy of both
SEER'S DIGEST and THE STORM OF SOULS were completely sold out, as well as every home-made Dominic Deegan scarf. Volume 3 sold out so fast that I was out of copies by the end of the very first day. Holy crap.
The con was a blast and I had a great time. I met a ton of wonderful readers, webcomickers and general troublemakers this weekend down in Dallas. I'll have links and pictures up later this week.
I needed a bit of recovery time once I returned to Mookie HQ, so today's filler is proudly presented by "Bride," who has contributed numerous fillers over the years and I find this one to be very cute... and flowery.
That's all from me for now.
Rock on.

SPS stands for "solar protection spell." I had planned to put that little tidbit into today's strip, but every attempt to do so either felt forced or ruined the pacing of the joke. So I put it here in today's news post, even though I'll "officially" address it later on in Dominic and Luna's vacation.
I'm heading out to
A-KON today, and instead of scratching out crummy filler doodles I'm going to try and bang out three black-and-white "big panel" strips for this convention weekend. Friday's is already done and I'm going to (hopefully) bang out Saturday's and Sunday's before I head off to the airport. I'm still not sure whether there will be an update on Monday.
And finally, I am happy to say that
Dominic Deegan Volume 3: THE STORM OF SOULS will indeed be at the convention. I think it came out looking great and I hope you fine folks agree when you see it.
That's all from me for now.
Rock on, and I hope to see you at
A-KON!
So sweet that I'm getting cavities.

I warned you that there'd be sappy romance.
Expect a lot more of this kind of sugar-sweet behavior as Dominic and Luna continue their luxury world tour. Also be sure to expect some new faces to show up, as well as the return of some old favorites.
Since I'll be heading off to
A-KON this weekend there will probably be crummy filler doodles in my absence. Some of you really like the fillers, some of you really don't. Either way, don't say I didn't warn you about the oncoming fillery-goodness.
Pre-orders for
Dominic Deegan Volume 3: THE STORM OF SOULS will be shipped out next week once I return from the convention. Thanks once again to all who pre-ordered.
That'll cheer anyone up!

I'm not saying that free alcohol is the solution to all of one's problems. I'm saying that free food and alcohol is a great solution to one's problems. As an Italian this one simple truth was burned into my brain at an early age. To this day, whenever I'm feeling down, a hearty dish of pasta and nice glass of wine lifts my spirits right up. Mmm.
Don't forget that I'll be at
A-KON this weekend! I'll be giving my notorious
Writing Unique Heroes & Memorable Villains talk on Saturday and otherwise be present for your general amusement. Be sure to stop by and say "hi" if you're in the area. And, with any luck, I'll have the debut copies of
Dominic Deegan Volume 3: THE STORM OF SOULS for sale. Go me!
Dominic and Luna begin their super-awesome world-building vacation. I'm super-awesome excited about this. Yay!
That's all from me for now.
Rock on.
School's out! For! Summer!

Getting
pre-orders for Volume 3 is really nice and all because it helps pay the bills, but reading the very kind and flattering e-mails you folks sent me regarding the comic's sixth anniversary was equally if not more satisfying. I am, as always, humbled by your support and kindness. You folks remain the greatest readers in the world.
I'm as about as excited as Dominic is with the news of his vacation. This is something I've been meaning to do with the strip for a long time and I finally found the right storytelling medium in which to do some much needed world-building. Well, the world that Dominic lives in has always been in my head but it's been far in the background. With Dominic's vacation I finally have the chance to let everyone, both you the readers and Dominic himself, see the world. I'm very excited.
There won't be a crisis or looming threats with this upcoming story. It's going to be just what Dominic and Luna need. A break. It's going to be lighthearted as I showcase the world, peoples, and places these characters have been living in. Expect sappy romance and bad jokes, as usual.
I'm geeking out about this.
Can you tell I'm geeking out about this?
I hope to see some of you folks at
A-KON next weekend!
That's all from me for now.
Rock on.
...and many mooooore!

Happy Birthday, Dominic Deegan.
Six years ago today I introduced this grumpy seer and his talking cat to the internet. I had no idea that half a decade later I'd still be writing and drawing his adventures, and people would still care about what he's up to.
One thousand seven hundred thirty eight comics later I find myself looking back over the happiest six years of my life. Here's hoping you fine folks stick around for another six. These past years have been so great because of each and every one of you. Thanks.
That's all from me for now.
Happy birthday and rock on, Dominic.
...because going through walls is comedy gold.

People sometimes tell me that I enjoy beating up Dominic too much.
I think they may be right.
Thanks so much to all of you who have been pre-ordering
Dominic Deegan Volume 3: THE STORM OF SOULS. It looks like I should have them in time for
A-KON at the end of this month, but one can never predict what can happen between now and then. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed.
Other than information about the book and the convention, I really don't have anything news-worthy to report on this fine Monday. Oh well. No news is good news.
That's all from me for now.
Rock on.

Esteemed ladies and gentlemen who are kind enough to come around here and read my little comic strip, I am very proud to announce that
Dominic Deegan Volume 3: THE STORM OF SOULS is now
available for pre-order from the Seer's Catalog. I am very pleased with the way the story reads in one collected volume and I can only hope those of you who choose to purchase a copy will feel the same way. Those of you who do wish to pre-order will have your copy signed by yours truly.
I am also very pleased to announce that the criminally neglected
Fan Art pages have received an impressive update. Be sure to browse around the galleries and see all the fantastic work that's been sent my way. I am planning to update those pages weekly from now on, so be sure to get those artistic motors running and send me some more arts!
And finally,
A-KON is looming ever closer. I'll be there selling merchandise, as usual, and I'll also be doing my nefarious
Writing Unique Heroes & Memorable Villains talk. Be sure to stop by and check it out if you're in the area!
That's all from me for now.
Rock on.
Cuz I'm a liar.

Okay, so I lied. I don't have any worthy news post for today, even though I said I would yesterday. Basically all I have to say is that
Dominic Deegan Volume 3: The Storm of Souls will be up for pre-order tomorrow and the
Fan Art pages should be updated tomorrow as well, but perhaps Thursday. We shall see.
In the meantime, here's a little something for your viewing pleasure. About two weeks ago I posted a video of me from the New England Metal Fest headbanging like an idiot. Now, for those of you who want to
hear me being an idiot, you can see
the entrance of the band I was freaking out over. It gets blurry once Dimmu Borgir takes the stage, but it clears up. And yes, the hoarse and ridiculous voice you hear on the video is me. Enjoy yourself as much as I did that night.
That's all from me for now.
Rock on.
Oh. Mah. God.

I'm in transit from New York back to Mookie HQ in the Boston area. I'll have a more worthy news update up tomorrow, Volume Three up for pre-order later this week, as well as a very long-overdue update of the
Fan Art pages for your viewing pleasure.
It was very difficult doing this strip at my parents' house, seeing as they have two adorable new kittens and they were adorable little distractions. Fuzzy, too.
That's all from me for now.
Rock on.
May freebies!

The
Donation Wallpapers for May are up, as you can see, and this month you don't have to donate a dime to get your hands on them. Honestly I felt guilty about turning strips you've already seen for free into donation incentives. So feel free to click the links, download and enjoy at your discretion.
The reason I didn't do original wallpapers for this month was because I've been busy and drained from various tanlges and problems with the layout and printing of
Dominic Deegan Volume Three: The Storm of Souls. Putting this book together has proven to be quite an epic adventure in and of itself. Between that and trying to get enough strips done ahead of time so I can visit my mother this weekend for Mother's Day... honestly, I just didn't have the time or the energy. Thus, free wallpapers. Yayz!
I will be making the third book available for pre-order next week. I'm still not certain whether it will be available in time for
A-KON but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
That's all from me for now!
Rock on.
Developmental stuff.

Being an avid superhero and comic book fan, drawing yesterday's strip actually gave me both a case of the giggles and the blues. Anyone who's watched a beloved character get put through the ringer once a new creative team gets hold of them can empathize with Dominic, I feel.
At least around here if you don't like how a beloved character has developed you can only blame me! Whee!
I should know in the next day or two whether or not
Dominic Deegan Volume 3: The Storm of Souls will be available in time for
A-KON. I'll keep you folks posted once I know more.
May's
Donation Wallpapers will be up sometime this week.
That's pretty much all from me for now!
Rock on.
Like a rock. Smart as one, too.

Work on Volume Three kept me from getting this month's Donation Wallpapers up on time. They should be up and ready for your approval sometime next week. I'm also a little behind on sending out some of April's wallpapers, but if you haven't gotten yours yet you should have it by the end of the weekend, barring disaster.
That being said, it's back to work for me.
Rock on.
In my heart and in my soul... I am out of control!

Steffanie's mole neglected to appear in yesterday's strip because it was at the Metal Fest with me over the weekend and passed out. It missed its cue. I swear. I wasn't because I'm occasionally absent-minded when it comes to my own characters. I swear.
I also seriously considered naming Tara's deadly arcane ailment "Thripshaw's Disease," but I decided to go with something original. Five nerd points to anyone who knows which strange disease I'm talking sandwich. Oh, sorry. Sometimes at the end of a sentence I come out with the wrong fusebox.
I know I promised pictures from the New England Metal Fest, but this is quite honestly far more entertaining. A friend of mine who came with me to the show
secretly took a video of me headbanging to Dimmu Borgir. The audio isn't that clear and for most of the video I'm in the dark, but for about ten seconds or so I am very clearly making an ass out of myself. Enjoy.
Work continues on
Dominic Deegan Volume 3: THE STORM OF SOULS. There's a chance it may not be ready in time for
A-KON but with any luck it'll be there. I'll keep you folks posted as developments... develop.
That's all from me for now.
Rock on.
I'm so metal that I actually feel rusty.

The New England Metal Fest left me so exhausted and worn out that my hands were shaking. They're trembling a bit now even as I'm typing this. As such, there's a big chunk of nothing up for today's Sunday update.
Totally worth it. Dimmu Borgir and Behemoth blew my mind.
The strip resumes tomorrow, and there may or may not be a picture or two from the Fest available for those of you who are interested in how silly I look when I'm rocking out.
