Intervened. September 19, 2011 Posted by Mookie
It's very early in the morning as I'm writing this, as I've just returned home from an overnight train ride from INTERVENTION. More on my weekend's experiences tomorrow. (Spoiler alert: They're all good.)

Today's filler fan art was provided by the lovely and talented Annie Stoll who has been kind enough to give me convention filler art before. Many thanks to her for filling in for me while I recover.

Finally, check my Convention Schedule on the right for new upcoming events! One is this Friday!

That's all from me for now.

The Scary Door. September 16, 2011 Posted by Mookie
Does that landscape look familiar?
Is Luna having another vision of her own?
Is she destined to go mad from exposure to this alien realm?

All this and more you can feel free to ask me at INTERVENTION! I'm traveling down to the show early this morning, but I promise to be at one-hundred percent capacity when I return to this really fun, very unique convention. I'll be doing a number of panels this weekend, too, including Writing Unique Heroes & Memorable Villains and a Q&A regarding the comic! So be sure to come by and say "hi!"

There may be crummy filler doodles or convention photos in place of a comic on Monday.

That's all from me for now.
Rock on, and I'll see you at INTERVENTION!
Tangled webs and deleted stories. September 15, 2011 Posted by Mookie
In case you missed it yesterday, Dominic Deegan got mentioned in the superhero webcomic, "Spinnerette!" I'm always appreciative of superhero love. A six-armed hug is a mighty thing, indeed.

Speaking of superheroes, I find myself sadly among the "alienated" crowd of readers in regards to the DC Reboot. If you've been reading my ramblings down here for the last few years you'll know that I've been pretty faithfully following the exploits of DC's various superheroes. Now it's hitting me that all those stories that I enjoyed so much have been erased, save for some of the outer space stuff. The fact that Justice League: Generation Lost, which I loved, never happened is a real sore spot for me. We'll see how many of DC's superhero books I'll be collecting after this first month of #1's.

I'm leaving for INTERVENTION on a very early train tomorrow. The comic will update normally for Friday, but expect crummy filler doodles or convention photos for Monday. You've been warned.

That's all from me for now.

And the winner is...! September 14, 2011 Posted by Mookie
"Michael Cao" is a reference to a gentleman named Michael and his webcomic, THE COW. Mike won a named appearance in the comic at the ConnectiCon 2011 Webcomic Auction and, in keeping with tradition, he has been promptly killed off. Mike was kind enough to contribute to last year's Fan Art Week as well!

Coincidentally, the winner of last year's auction at ConnectiCon was also named Michael, although his death was admittedly more gruesome. At least I think so.

I'm headed to the comic shop today to check out more of the "DC Reboot." So far I've found the costume redesigns to be awful, but some of the stories to be solid and intriguing. We shall see if this trend continues.

That's all from me for now.

Mystique. Allure. Too much information. September 13, 2011 Posted by Mookie
This joke has been around for a very long time, and every so often I like bring it up to keep it going as a running gag. I still think it's funny.

It was also nice to revisit Gregory's past, even just for two panels. Remembering his days as the crippled healer, then as the bulkier "superhealer," and that he does have a thing for women in conservative clothing who are vixens underneath (i.e. Pamela and Jayden).

Don't forget that I'll be at INTERVENTION this weekend! It's going to be a blast.

That's all from me for now.

Please hammer don't hurt 'em. September 12, 2011 Posted by Mookie
As you can see, the comic has updated on time and that means I survived my bachelor party over the weekend. Now all I have left to deal with is the wedding itself. I'm not panicking at all. Nope. Not me. Eep.

I have another exciting weekend ahead of me! This weekend is the second coming of INTERVENTION where I have been graciously invited to return as a guest! I'll be doing panels, selling books and generally being happy to be back at this really fun convention. So be sure to stop by and say "hi" if you're in the area!

That's all from me for now.

Ah. September 9, 2011 Posted by Mookie
I don't think polyamory and cross-dressing counts as the depraved and decadent behavior that Taz and Randy were telling Gregory about, but I think they illustrate the point in today's comic nicely. Going to see actors screw on stage, though? That may be more decadent than depraved.

I have some, ahem, wedding related stuff to take care of this weekend (i.e. my bachelor party) so there may be a delay in the update of Monday's comic. It's unlikely, but just in case I have a weekend that's comparable to The Hangover I figured I'd give you fine folks a heads-up.

That's all from me for now.
Rock on and have a great weekend!
The ones you least expect. September 8, 2011 Posted by Mookie
Looks like Gregory's having an "it's always the ones you least expect" moment in today's comic.

Books are back up for sale in the SEER'S CATALOG. I tried some different layouts for the store but none of them have satisfied me yet. So instead of waiting to find a design I liked I decided to stick with the old, clunky layout for now.

After recovering from the joy of a new issue of ATOMIC ROBO I went on to read some of the "new 52" DC Comics. It's still too early to tell how this reboot is going as far as the quality of the books/stories go, but so far I can say this: It's not as good as I hoped, but not as bad as I feared. Going to keep giving these comics a fair shot, though.

That's all from me for now.

What (doesn't) happen in Erossus... September 7, 2011 Posted by Mookie
Gregory's disappointment in the last panel sounds like the frustration felt by that talking dog in the Ultimate Dog Tease. At least it does in my mind. I, for one, would be equally heartbroken if someone took me to Las Vegas and we didn't do... well, anything that Vegas is famous for.

I couldn't get into the graphic novels, but I finally watched Scott Pilgrim vs. The World for the first time last night and I loved it. I particularly enjoyed the evil vegan psychic bassist. I've been a vegan for close to fifteen years and I'm still waiting on my superpowers! Although I've always suspected there were vegan police lurking around somewhere...

Heading to the comic shop today to finally pick up the new ATOMIC ROBO as well as give the already infamous "DC Reboot" a fair try. Wish me luck.

That's all from me for now.
Rock on and geek out!
Back home again. September 6, 2011 Posted by Mookie
As you can see, the comic has updated normally over the Labor Day weekend and everyone was spared crummy filler.

Gregory's been itching to go to Erossus ever since the Ecstasy & Evil storyline. Now the less magical but considerably more metal Deegan sibling will get his wish! But you know what they say about being careful what you wish for...

I was in Maine over the holiday weekend with my fiancee and my very close friends. I went swimming, concocted vegan-friendly s'mores over an open flame, and had some of the best stargazing nights ever. And when it was finally over I was sad to leave, but I am glad to be home.

That's all from me for now.

Upside the head. September 2, 2011 Posted by Mookie
For those who may have forgotten (and I wouldn't blame you if you did), Dominic did have an "O woe is me" monologue back during the Battle for Barthis, and it was Szark who talked him up from it. I guess you could say Szark performed a preemptive strike in this case.

I think everyone needs a friend who's willing to smack you upside the head when you're feeling sorry for yourself. Granted, there are some very valid times to feel down, but it's good to have a friend who knows the difference between genuine regret and unnecessary self-pity. And in those latter times, sometimes a thwack upside the head is just what you need to snap you out of a funk.

I'm leaving for a long Labor Day weekend today. There should be an update Monday, whether it's a comic or crummy filler. Come back Monday and find out!

That's all from me for now.
Rock on and have a nice long weekend!
Uncertainty. September 1, 2011 Posted by Mookie
It's been a little while since we've seen "the Gray," and it looks like Dominic is also getting subjected to a bit of a cliffhanger. Chance made his choice. He simply chose not to announce it.

It's September already? Man. Well, that means that my impromptu summer sale in the SEER'S CATALOG is over. I've suspended book orders until next week, as I'm leaving for a long Labor Day weekend tomorrow and there are some things I want to adjust before any more books are sold.

There may or may not be a comic on Monday, since it is a holiday here and I'll be traveling. If not, there will be crummy filler of some sort but there will also be a double-sized comic on Tuesday to make up for it.

That's all from me for now.
Rock on.
Hitting the shelves again. August 31, 2011 Posted by Mookie
This is the first time Heliner's first name has been mentioned since this story began.

Also, for the first time in weeks I'll be heading to the comic shop. Not because I'm eager to see the first inklings of the already notorious "DC reboot," but because (as of this writing) the new ATOMIC ROBO will hit the shelves.

While I'm there I'll likely browse through the superhero books I've stopped collecting, just to see what I've been missing. Though I'm admittedly not concerned about the outcomes of Flashpoint or Fear Itself, I do miss some of the team books I was reading (i.e. Thunderbolts and Avengers Academy), and Marvel's cosmic superhero stuff was a lot of fun. We shall see.

That's all from me for now.

History repeating. August 30, 2011 Posted by Mookie
Big comic today. Today's strip needed to cover the necessary ground while still mirroring a previous vision almost exactly. I tried fitting this in to eight panels with no luck. So, big comic today. I do hope you folks like it.

Otherwise, it's a slow news day. So I'll put up a couple of links to fill the space up.

Mastodon's new songs sound more like stripped-down rock and roll than heavy metal, and that's fine by me. Ther new album is (hopefully) going to kick major ass.

If you signed up to play League of Legends via a referral from my account be sure to play until level 5! And if you're playing already, be sure to tell people who you refer to the game to do the same! That's when the referral rewards can be redeemed.

That's all from me for now.

Come on, Irene. August 29, 2011 Posted by Mookie
For those who may have forgotten this little detail, Celesto did use a fake name to trick the Masters family. As to Cyrus Morgan's connection to the Masters family, that is still a mystery... but probably not for long.

UPDATE: Ignore this next part of the news post. Nothing happened where I lived. It rained and was windy. The end.

This news post was written the day before hurricane Irene was scheduled to reach New England. I'm not sure if we'll lose power over the weekend or for how long it'll be out if we do, so tomorrow's comic may be delayed. Check my Twitter feed for the latest updates if you don't see a comic on Tuesday.

That's all from me for now.
Rock on.
