An echo of old words...
January 7, 2013

Jacob's words today echo
his ominous statement just before The March Across Maltak began. But the Deegan family's necromancer has undergone some drastic changes since then. Will things be as ominous this time around?
In other relatively light news:
- I know I'm late to the party on this, but
RIITIRR by Enslaved is an incredible album. I cannot stop listening to it.
Axioma Ethica Odini, their previous album, was amazing and I didn't think it could be topped. I was wrong. Do yourself a favor and check this out.
- At the end of 2012, my wife and I both had very long hair. I shaved my head and Alyssa chopped off most of her hair in 2013. Now our heads are cold and we have to invest in hats. Perhaps we should have done this in the summer.
-
Garth keeps sending me amazing work for our new webcomic project. Can't wait to debut this stuff at
KATSUCON.
That's all from me for now.
Rock on.
Cutting the cord.

The last time someone (or some-demon, in this case) tried to cut the Infernomancer's arm-harpoon,
it didn't end well for anyone.
(All the slaughtered demons were based on old co-workers of mine, who had been asking me to put them in my comic. So I did, and I promptly them killed off, thus beginning the tradition of killing characters with real-life counterparts.)
Quilt is the first to successfully sever the Infernomancer's hand. Fitting revenge, considering what he did to Bumper. Now if only he seemed to care that he was just maimed. Then again, he's
come back from worse.
A shortened week of comics to start 2013, but we'll have a full batch of updates next week as Jacob gets a second chance to take on Rilian's necromancy.
That's all from me for now.
Rock on, and have a nice weekend!
On 2013 resolutions...
January 2, 2013

For those of you interested in my everyday life, here are some of the resolutions I've made for 2013:
- Get myself in shape. I'm getting older and I need to properly maintain what I've got.
- Take more photographs. My
deviantArt gallery has been somewhat neglected and I mean to fix that.
- Find a spot to do more stargazing. I was a hungry "astronomer" in 2011 but slacked off quite a bit in 2012. I need to put my eyes back on the stars.
- Keep up answering
emails, but get better at replying to messages on Facebook and Twitter.
And finally, here's a little "art project" I'm doing. I shaved my head and all my facial hair when 2013 hit. Now I'm going to let it all grow back, taking a photo of myself once-a-day for the whole year. The only things I'll be shaving are my neck (cuz nobody likes a neck-beard) and my moustache (cuz my wife hates kissing a moustache). Some may say I'll be growing an amish beard. Me? I'll be calling it my Uncle Iroh beard.
(If you don't know who Uncle Iroh is, go watch Avatar: The Last Airbender. You'll thank me.)
(If you don't like Uncle Iroh, then I don't know what to say to you.)
(If you didn't cry like a baby when Uncle Iroh sang "Leaves From The Vine," then you may not have a soul.)
That's all from me for now.
Rock on and geek out.
Will '13 be a lucky number for our heroes?

And we're back!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
This is it. The final months of
Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire are upon us. In case you missed the announcement back in May, the comic will come to an end on or before May of this year. It's been ten amazing years, and I'm ready to give these characters, and all of you wonderful readers, a proper ending. I hope you like what you see as the big finale looms ever closer.
But there's still lots of comics to go!
Speaking of which, remember that
Miranda stored her "excess power" in magic items. She sure looks sad about having to access them, though.
My
2013 Convention Schedule is up! This list may change as time goes on, so be sure to keep an eye on it.
That's all from me for now.
Rock on, and happy new year!
Something's been going on here.

In case you forgot that the comic resumes updating normally tomorrow, you're probably wondering what this picture of a rock and some grass means.
But if you've been coming by during my annual holiday vacation, you'll know that
something's been happening here all week, and even through the weekend.
Hope you folks enjoyed this little interlude!
The comic returns tomorrow, on the first of the new year!
That's all from me for now.
Rock on, and have a happy new year!
I'm on vacati... hey, what's he doing here?

I'm on my annual holiday vacation this week!
The comic will resume updating normally on...
...hey. What's Celesto doing here?
The last time we saw him
he was trying to regain control of himself while meditating in the Wild Edge.
I wonder if he'll be up to something this week?
Guess we'll have to see what he does over the next few days.
The comic resumes its normal updates on
Tuesday, January 1, 2013. In the meantime... just keep an eye on this guy for me, okay?
That's all from me for now.
Rock on, and see you in 2013!
A sign of things to come.

It's him.
The Infernomancer
closed out 2011 in a similar fashion. He was certainly an omen of bad things to come for 2012. Will he jinx 2013 as well?
He's also
emerged from a bunch of tentacles before. His appearance was a bad omen then, too.
And that's it for 2012! I'm taking the next week and a day off to spend time with my family and celebrate the holidays. The comic will resume normally updating on
Tuesday, January 1, 2013. But something may be happening here during my annual holiday break, so check back and see for yourself.
Thanks to all of you for an incredible year. You're all so wonderful, and I cannot express my love and gratitude enough. In 2013, I hope to give you all the best grand finale I can manage.
That's all from me for this year.
Rock on, have a great holiday, and see you in 2013!
Just one guard.

Here we are. The penultimate comic of 2012.
Almost like it's setting up for a week-long cliffhanger or something.
Tee hee.
And it's somewhat appropriate that the final comic of 2012 is falling exactly on what some people are believing to be the
end of the world! I don't believe that nonsense whatsoever, but it's a funny bit of trivia while it's still relevant.
In another bit of trivia, just like tomorrow's final comic of 2012 falls on "then end of the world,"
this comic happened to update on Talk Like A Pirate Day. If I paid more attention to my calendar maybe I'd actually plan these things out, but I like happy accidents.
That's all from me for now.
Rock on.
Like hell.

Luna was originally going to just say "like hell." It would've been a direct homage to one of my favorite moments in Superman: Birthright, which is one of my favorite graphic novels. When Superman's confidence gets restored because of what Lois... and then he... with the... and the... it's a great story and I don't want to spoil anything.
The other Superman graphic novel I've been told I need to read is Superman: Red Son, where we see what would've happened if Superman's rocket had landed in Soviet Russia instead of the U.S. I've never gotten around to reading it.
Anyway, I thought today's dialogue worked better, so I changed it and realized I could just talk about Superman down here in the news box. It's Wednesday, too, so that's appropriate since new comic books hit the shelves today. Maybe I'll finally go treat myself to Red Son.
That's all from me for now.
Rock on and geek out.
Too late?

Unless you count
the time he peeled himself out of his own skin, or even
the time he was sun bathing in that same skin, this is the first time we've seen Rilian without his signature black robe on.
I think it's safe to say that he's looked better.
Just a reminder that this is the final week of comics for 2012. I'll be taking annual holiday break next week and the comic will resume updating on
Tuesday, January 1, 2013. There may be something to look at that week, so be sure to come by anyway!
That's all from me for now.
Rock on.
In memoriam.

My heart goes out to those who lost loved ones in Friday's tragic school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut.

I had to end this week on a somewhat hopeful note.
I guess the holiday season is inspiring me to be upbeat. At least on potential cliffhanger weekends.
Next week is the last week of comics for 2012.
I'll be taking my annual holiday vacation from December 24 - 31. The comic will resume its normal updates on Tuesday, January 1, 2013. While there won't be regular comics that week, there will likely be something to look at anyway. So be sure to come by and see for yourself.
That's all from me for now.
Rock on, and have a nice weekend!

Donovan and Miranda are a raunchy couple.
They have a history of it.
They aren't ashamed of it.
And Miranda may be the one with the dirtier mind.
Today is 12/12/12.
I'm pretty sure everyone on the internet is pointing this out. And now I am, too.
New comic books hit the shelves today! Namely
ATOMIC ROBO, one of my favorites, if not my favorite comic period. I've been singing this comic's praises for years. Do yourself a favor and pick this title up if you haven't already.
That's all from me for now.
Rock on and geek out.
Older events and old news.

There may be some resemblance in today's comic to the conclusion of
The Storm of Souls, where
one of the strongest and most "monstrous" spellcasters stayed behind to deal with an even more monstrous obstacle. Luna's come a long way.
This may be old news to some metal fans, but it only just hit my radar. Enslaved has had a new album out since October! How the hell did I miss this? These guys have quickly become one of my favorite bands. Their previous album,
Axioma Ethica Odini is incredible. From what I've heard of
RIITIIR, it may be equally mind blowing. I can't wait to get my hands on this (I still like to go out and buy CDs) and really sink my teeth into it. If it's metal enough, I may even do that literally.
That's all from me for now.
Rock on.
Mighty POWER OF THE DRAGONFLAME... er, HEART!
December 10, 2012

Fierla's right to be upset that someone's desecrated the body of a dragon. They're
tied to the nagasta creation myth after all.
I was debating whether or not I was going to take my annual Christmas vacation this year, what with the comic ending on or before May 2013, but I ultimately decided to take my yearly week-long break. But who knows? Maybe
there will be something to see anyway, just like last year.
If today's comic was to have a soundtrack, I'd pretty much pick anything by
Rhapsody of Fire. Most of their songs are about dragons and dragon-related things, I've found. But if I were to pick one, I think it'd have to be
"Power of the Dragonflame."
That's all from me for now.
Rock on.
