Between Luna & Quilt's "crystal bubbles" and Dominic & Szark's "sword scrying" I'm having a lot of fun drawing these new methods of second sight. I hope you folks are enjoying them, too, because over the course of this quest against the king there's going to be more of it.

I didn't tweet about new comic books yesterday because, well, none of the current books I'm collecting are really striking me. I mean, Deadpool (the one written by Daniel Way) is always entertaining and War of the Green Lanterns has been a good interstellar brawl, but I didn't think anything was really worth getting super excited about. I'm starting to notice that trend with me and superhero comics in general. Maybe it's a sign of things to come? Or maybe it's just a slump in what's currently out there? Time will tell.

This is a very "80's underdog moment" in this storyline. I promise, however, that there won't be any training montages, crazy last-minute comebacks to beat the "evil" team, or the whole school coming around and seeing how cool the nerd was all along.

The eighties was a wonderful and horrible time for movies.

Anyway, TWO THIEF OR NOT TWO THIEF is on its way to my headquarters, so if nothing's gone wrong with the printing I should have everyone's pre-orders shipping by the beginning of June! I should also have them for the annual "new book debut" at AKON! Then again, if something has gone wrong with the printing, then you all may be able to hear me screaming from wherever you are on Earth.

The flashback in today's comic is somewhat based on a true story. When we were in college, my best friend took fencing lessons, while I watched The Princess Bride a lot. One day we bought a couple of plastic lightsabers and I challenged him to a duel, thinking my flare for drama would be equal to his valid schooling.

Yeah.

What is based completely on the truth is Dominic's huge glasses, acne and horrible mullet. Those were mine. Getting through my younger years with those was tough, but you know what they say... that which does not kill you makes you nerdier.

Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire turned nine years old over the weekend! I celebrated with a few high quality brews and watching the world not end. It was very nice.

And thanks to all of you who sent me very kind messages and emails regarding the comic's ninth anniversary. You folks make me feel like I'm more metal than I really am. I am, as always, humbled by your continued love and support.

Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire is nine years old today.

I think that's pretty awesome.

Thanks to all of you who have been along for the ride thus far! It's a real treat knowing I have some of the greatest readers in the world, and I couldn't do this without you.

And so, in celebration of this momentous weekend anniversary, I present you with some crummy filler. Ain't I classy?

Nine years ago tomorrow, Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire made its humble debut on the internet. Nine years later, er, tomorrow, Dominic and company are still having adventures and I'm blessed enough to have the greatest readers in the world. I couldn't do this without all of you.

There will be a celebratory piece of "filler" up tomorrow in celebration of this nine-year milestone!

I'm also tickled at the idea that tomorrow is "the end of the world" or whatever, and that's coinciding with Dominic's nine year birthday. But if the world doesn't end on Saturday, I'll see you all at the 2012 doomsday party.

There was originally going to be a nod to the fabled "Sword of Omens" in today's strip, in regards to Szark's idea of sword scrying, but instead I put a tribute to my pal and archnemesis Brian Clevinger from his 8-Bit Theatre days. See if you can spot it.

For those of you keeping track of this sort of thing, though I may be the only one who is, there's a tiny accomplishment that goes along with today's comic.

This is the 2500th strip of Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire.

I don't know why twenty-five hundred comics feels like a milestone worth announcing. The three thousand mark seems like a much more appropriate announcement, but 2500 just looks like a significant number to me.

I thought this was an interesting little news tidbit. Some religious groups around here are convinced that this Saturday, May 21 is Judgment Day. The Rapture. The beginning of The End. Whatever you want to call it. May 21 also happens to be the day Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire reaches its ninth anniversary. Coincidence?

There may be a special update this Saturday to commemorate this apocalyptic anniversary. Keep an eye out... if we're all still alive!

Looks like Quilt finally found a use for that bubble pipe... besides sticking it in other people's mouths when he's made a dramatic "revelation."

Work continues on Two Thief or Not Two Thief: Dominic Deegan Volume 6, so I should have enough pages laid out and ready to take online pre-orders by next month. If nothing goes wrong (like it did last year) I should have the book ready for its convention debut at AKON! So whether you're going to order online or buy it from me in person, it'll be coming out soon!
